JumpersAway.com started up in 2021, but I became a Cessna 182 jump pilot in 1988. After a season and a half of flying jumpers, I had this article published in the March 1990 AOPA Pilot magazine. While some things have changed--there was no Foreflight then or even GPS—the power settings, airspeeds and radio procedures remain the same. I flew 101 hours July-November 1988 and flew 146 hours April-November 1989. To read the original article from 1990 AOPA Pilot Magazine, click the link.
