For all the attributes of a Cessna 182, one fault is a carburetor prone to developing ice. Many 182s have gone down due to carburetor icing that restricts engine power. Here is an article I wrote for USPA's Spring 1998 issue of The Professional, emphasizing that carburetor icing is as much a problem in hot summer months as on cold winter days.
