Q:Â WHY USE THE AVIATOR EMERGENCY RIG AND NOT A ROUND PARACHUTE?
A: The sport of skydiving ditched round parachutes decades ago for modern ram-air, airfoil parachutes
for three good reasons; they are reliable, highly maneuverable and they land softly. With a round
parachute, you land—hard--where the wind takes you, including into trees, fences, powerlines or water.
With a ram-air, airfoil parachute, you land—softly--where you want to.
Q: SHOULD I GET BAILOUT TRAINING WITH THE AVIATOR?
A: Yes! If you wear an emergency parachute of any sort, you should get bailout training. After all, if you
have to bail out, it’s your last shot so you need to get it right. The Aviator ram-air, airfoil parachute is a wing and it is strongly recommended that you learn about its operation, deployment, and flying characteristics. Jumpers Away’s Pilot Bailout Course will teach you how to fly the parachute and learn about turns, stalls and landings.
The 1-day course includes four hours of ground review and egress practice. Optional but highly recommended--a tandem jump with Skydive Coastal Carolina* at the Cape Fear Regional Jetport. (* Subject to Skydive Coastal Carolina terms and conditions.)
